Hi there! My name is Julianne, and I am a Mechanical Engineering PhD student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I previously earned my BASc in Engineering Science majoring in Robotics from the University of Toronto, Canada.
Since my very first design course as an undergraduate, I’ve been fascinated by the engineering design process and the many factors that shape design outcomes. My research interests focus on front-end design, particularly the challenges of scoping wicked problems and understanding complex socio-technical systems. Motivated by my experiences in interdisciplinary teams, I am also passionate about collaboration in diverse engineering teams and exploring new strategies to facilitate and improve teamwork. I hope to one day use my knowledge and expertise about engineering design cognition and processes to improve engineering education.
In my free time, I can be found hiking outdoors, playing softball with friends, baking with my beloved kitchen aid mixer, and playing the trumpet in jazz bands.
