Hi! I’m a Masters student within the Mechanical Engineering department, and my research within the Burleson Design Group is influenced by my undergraduate background in social science - through analyzing design history in the context of early problem framing and cultural settings, I study how design trajectories are shaped beyond technical optimization. Currently, I’m looking at the atomic age, identifying competing design decisions and national visions of American and Soviet nuclear energy development in order to better understand the relationship between broad ideology, long-term attitudes towards risk and responsibility, and technical design. My goal is to gain insight into how we design and interact with high-risk technology over time.

Outside of school, I spend my time bartending, getting outside, and learning the WiFi passwords of every coffee shop in Boulder.
