My research explores the intersection between intellectual property (IP) and product design. It builds on more than a decade of experience in patent counseling, prosecution, and litigation. I’m fascinated by the untold stories behind the products and systems we use every day, and I’m thrilled to be studying design science as a member of the Burleson Global Design Group at CU Boulder. Outside of school, I enjoy sailing, making music, playing with LEGOs®, building play forts, and sitting around campfires with my wife and our children. I hope someday to be as imaginative, playful, curious, confident, helpful, and kind as they are. I enjoy connecting with colleagues from diverse fields, and welcome opportunities to collaborate in research and teaching.
